April 1 and April 8 #641-642 D. Landreth Seed Company
Jerry and Al spoke with guest Barb Melera of the D. Landreth Seed Company, originally a Baltimore firm. The company has been in existence for over 200 years and is one of the oldest family firms in America. Barb's biggest advice to the home gardener is to be patient and not plant too early. Most seeds and plants need to wait until early April for the soil to be truly warm enough to allow germination and growth.
For many people in this region, and herb garden for the kitchen is a fairly manageable prospect. Some herbs do well sewn as seen, whereas others should be purchased in the pot as seedlings, and transplanted.
