Baltimore Eggnog

A local twist on a Christmas classic

Ingredients

1 oz. cognac
1 oz. dark rum
½ oz. Madeira
1 whole egg
½ oz. spiced simple syrup
½ oz. heavy cream
½ oz. milk

For spiced simple syrup:
4 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 cinnamon stick
4-5 cloves

To Prepare

To make spiced simple syrup:
Combine two parts sugar and one part water in a pot. Set heat to medium-low and stir until sugar completely dissolves. Add cinnamon stick and cloves, and remove from heat. Allow to cool completely, then remove spices and use (stored refrigerated in an air-tight container, leftover syrup should last up to 6 months).

To make cocktail:
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker.
Shake vigorously and serve.

To Serve

Strain into a small wine or rocks glass.
