About Us
Baltimore's Own. Family Owned.
We’ve been a Baltimore landmark since 1944, and our mission has remained constant: to nourish our community with exceptional food, personalized service, and the care that comes from being your neighborhood grocer for over 80 years.
What started when Victor Cohen opened our first market has grown into two locations now guided by Nancy Cohen and Michael Schaffer, but we’ve never lost sight of what matters most: treating every customer like a neighbor, because that’s exactly what you are.
The Eddie’s Experience
From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll notice the difference. Our in-house butchers will cut to your specifications. Our chefs and bakers create fresh, made-from-scratch favorites. Our catering team will help you plan the perfect gathering. Even our cashiers know that a friendly conversation is just as important as an efficient checkout.
Whether you’re picking up our legendary crab cakes, discovering a specialty ingredient, or using our personal shopping and delivery services, you’ll experience the care that only comes from a family business that’s been part of this community for generations.
Rooted in Baltimore
Being “Baltimore’s Own” means more than just our location. Throughout the year, we host community events that bring neighbors together and proudly support organizations working to make the community stronger. We believe a grocery store should be more than a place to shop; it should be a gathering place where community happens.
Our Vision
We’re working every day to continue to be Baltimore’s premier neighborhood destination, where quality food and community spirit create lasting connections. After 80 years, we’re just getting started.
Our History
Our History
Victor Cohen opened the original “Victor’s” market in Roland Park community in 1944 with a simple philosophy: to provide shoppers with the finest products available, along with excellent service and attention to detail.
So, Who is Eddie?
In 1954, Victor joined a buying and advertising cooperative formed by Eddie Levy. Though the cooperative eventually dissolved, the name “Eddie’s” remained. By the early 1980s, we proudly became “Eddie’s of Roland Park.”
Innovating from the Start
We distinguished ourselves early on with our signature crab soup and legendary crab cakes. We roasted turkeys and beef in-house for busy customers which was a novel idea at the time. This was the beginning of our popular Gourmet to Go department, making Eddie’s a pioneer in prepared foods long before it became commonplace.
Growing with Baltimore
In 1992, Victor’s daughter Nancy Cohen opened our second location in Baltimore County on North Charles Street, transforming the former Acme Supermarket site into a larger complement to our beloved Roland Avenue store. The Charles Street location was completely renovated in 2015 to better serve our growing community. In 2027, we will celebrate 35 years in this second location.
The Legacy Continues
Today, Nancy Cohen and her son Michael Schaffer carry on the tradition Victor established over 80 years ago, always putting quality, service, and community first.
