As a member of our Catering team, you are responsible for building trust, providing expertise, and offering first-class customer service to Eddie’s shoppers, from introducing our services and planning a menu to finalizing a proposal, collecting payment and fulfilling the order. You offer recommendations based on experience, utilize resources and training to build knowledge, and partner with staff from all departments to plan and execute catering offerings while utilizing proactive planning, sound judgement and support of management to solve any challenges that may arise. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner who is organized and detail-oriented, with a with a friendly, “can-do” demeanor and ability to offer informed recommendations, manage expectations, and maintain grace under pressure—especially during key holidays including Easter, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Success will depend on your ability to engage become knowledgeable on a wide variety of product offerings, communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and create and cultivate a warm, inviting and approachable rapport with customers and coworkers alike, as well as maintaining the company’s commitment to service, quality and reliability.

This full-time fifty (50) hours per week, salaried position is a highly-visible, key role within a fast-paced store that focuses on customer satisfaction. Position Summary:
 
  • The Catering Manager works closely with our customers to detail every aspect of their order. The Catering Manager works closely with the Store Manager, Meat & Fish Manager, Deli Manager, and Bakery Manager to plan and execute the customer’s order. The Catering Manager, along with the Caterer, is responsible for checking up with other departments to ensure the proper food and related items have been prepared and are ready for customer pick-up. The Catering Manager is responsible for developing creative new ideas to enhance the customer’s catering options and experience.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
 
  •      •  Process customer pick-up or delivery orders for multiple departments via the phone, facsimile, email, or in person using Eddie’s catering software and/or standard order form as required,
  •      •  Prepare and provide detailed menu proposals and options for customers to enhance their catering selections,
  •      •  Make suggestions/recommendations to customers regarding department products that complement their order,
  •      •  Prepare and provide party planning recommendations and suggestions for customers to ensure complete event satisfaction,
  •      •  Distribute a copy of customer order to each appropriate department, highlighting the items for which it is responsible,
  •      •  Accurately complete a delivery and/or pick-up log form for each order and promptly file according to department procedures,
  •      •  Responsible for administration of customer catering orders on a daily, weekly, and annual basis by updating and ensuring accuracy of department files and database,
  •      •  Collect pick-up orders from the appropriate department(s) and bring to pick-up area and assist customer with confirmation and check-out of accurate order,
  •      •  Coordinate and communicate with dispatcher daily order specifics and time frame for delivery,
  •      •  Work cooperatively and communicate with all key associates and confirm that all customer orders are correct, complete, appropriately prepared, and ready for on-time pick-up or delivery,
  •      •  Professionally address and resolve customer concerns,
  •      •  Meet with Store Manager as needed and complete any other assigned duties,
  •      •  Advise store management of ideas, suggestions, and recommendations to improve catering services and/ or to improve/ upgrade overall store performance,
  •      •  Provide leadership and guidance to the Caterer, and
  •      •  Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory responsibilities:
  •      •  Caterer.

 

Qualifications:
  •      •  High school diploma or equivalent.
  •      •  College degree is preferred.
  •      •  ServSafe training is desired.
  •      •  Prior retail experience desirable,
  •      •  Outstanding social skills set for professional, customer and associate interaction,
  •      •  Strong verbal and written communication skills including computer literacy,
  •      •  Must possess skills and abilities in customer service, planning and organization, creativity, and innovation,
  •      •  Background in food service including food safety certification, culinary training and/or related field,
  •      •  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  •      •  Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel,
  •      •  Must be an excellent problem solver,
  •      •  Must be a creative thinker, who searches for ways to enhance the customer’s experience,
  •      •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
  •      •  Ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as business requires,
  •      •  Ability to develop, implement, and oversee a new business development and retention strategy,
  •      •  Professional appearance,
  •      •  Knowledge of food and beverage service,
  •      •  Perform all other duties as assigned.
