ONE MORE BITE
Local Holiday Highlights
“Supporting local, small family farms is the perfect way to embrace the true spirit of the holidays,” says Spike Gjerde.
And he is certainly one who would know—the James Beard Award-winning chef and founder of Woodberry Kitchen is an authority throughout Baltimore and in his field for local sourcing and cultivating farm-to-table relationships.
This holiday season, Gjerde also fostered an introduction between Eddie’s and Roam Dairy—an Amish farm located in nearby Lancaster County—which has brought a new, vat-pasteurized whole milk to our dairy case, and to our kitchen:
“I’ve been working with Omar Beiler for a decade,” Gjerde explained. “And by introducing the Eddie’s family to Omar and Roam Dairy, I’m sharing a chef secret: the most delicious butter and cream comes from farmers who care for and appreciate their land and animals.”
Our tried and true recipe for traditional, thick-whipped mashed potatoes is now better than ever before, thanks to the addition of Roam Dairy butter and cream—and it’s one of several local additions to our holiday lineup this year!
