Eddie’s Bakery Department is home to hundreds of baked-in-house sweets, locally-made treats, and high-quality breads, breakfast items, and baked goods. As a Bakery Clerk at the N. Charles Street store, your dependable, can-do work ethic and friendly, customer-focused manner will help the Bakery succeed in selling product, delivering top-notch service, and keeping up with demand.

 

Position Summary:

The Baker is responsible for baking, mixing dough, icing, packaging, and filling of designated pastry and bread items in the Bakery Department; to maintain a neat, clean, and visually appealing department and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy. In addition, the Baker will assist behind the case assisting customers, ensuring that the case is filled, and helping to maintain ensure that product and packaging are brought upstairs.

 

Responsibilities:
 
  •      •  Assemble, weigh and measure ingredients for breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods using standardized formulas and procedures,
         •  Place prepared ingredients into mixing unit according to specifications and instructions,
         •  Prepare cooking vessel and pans to receive dough and ingredient batter as directed in standardized recipe,
         •  Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material, and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense,
         •  Monitor cooking process of bakery items while inside specified equipment to ensure proper doneness and appearance of finished item. Rotate pans to ensure proper balanced heat distribution,
         •  Works closely with the Bakery Department Head and Pastry Chef in setting up and preparing the next baking and desserts,
         •  Maintains the cleanliness of the baking area (e.g., mixer, prep table, baking essentials),
         •  Maintains assigned workstations in a safe and sanitary condition
         •  Proofs and bakes all unfinished bakery goods by following each item’s product handling information using ovens and/or other equipment,
         •  Uses bakery production charts as a guide for production and display needs, and
         •  Gathers products to be prepared for the next business day,
         •  Decorates special order or case product.
         •  Answers questions and recommends bakery items.
         •  Answers customer calls and takes special orders,
         •  Packages freshly baked goods, including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items as needed,
         •  Unpacks bakery goods from the freezer and displays proper amounts based on bakery production chart recommendations,
         •  Rotates and stores bakery products following proper work methods on food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures,
         •  Receives, inspects, and stores bakery shipments,
         •  Rotates and stores bakery products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures,
         •  Ensures that all products are fresh and meet company quality standards,
         •  Checks for out-of-date products daily and follows salvage and stale product policies and procedures,
         •  Generates labels and price tickets for bakery goods and performs price check functions when necessary.,
         •  Ensures all items are accurately priced,
         •  Cleans and sanitizes equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces in the bakery, including ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables,
         •  Operates and handles bakery equipment using proper work methods in accordance with safety policies and procedures,
         •  Maintains all club policies and procedures, and
         •  Performs other duties as assigned.
