Gearing Up for the Big Game

Did you know the second biggest "feasting" day for Americans is Super Bowl Sunday? Whether you're rooting for the Broncos or the Seahawks, or just watching to see the cool commercials, one thing is for sure: We all want something fun and delicious to munch on. Chicken wings are probably the No. 1 snack as far as Big Game fare goes. We're "spreading our wings" with our Honey BBQ, Teriyaki and Buffalo Winger platters.

Winter Citrus: Orange is the New Yellow

Just when the winter doldrums begin to set in, we get a burst of sunshine. This is when winter citrus takes hold. From November to April, citrus fruits are at their peak, with more varieties than ever.

Love Your Veggies

Only a week into the new year, and we're already smothered in ads for health clubs, fitness and dieting, all with the intent to "guilt" us into getting in better shape. Sure, we all want to look and feel good, but we can take a more positive approach, and a very simple one that will last more than a few weeks. And that is: Love your veggies.

The Best of 2013

As 2013 comes to a close, we can’t help but reflect on the food trends and food favorites of the past year.

Popcorn, honey and yes, kale, all made a comeback. Who would have thought that something you had to be bribed to eat as a child would turn out to be one of the most popular new snack foods of 2013? Brad’s Raw and Crunchy Kale chips were a big hit this year, as well as the “simply wonderful” Quinn’s Popcorn.

There's Something About Snow

What is it about the phrase “wintry mix” that triggers a Pavlovian response to shop for milk, bread and toilet paper? When that first salt truck hits the road, some of us go a step further. We pull out the roasting pan, the stock pot and the slow cooker to get down for some real comfort food.

No Time to Cook?

The holiday rush is upon us. With work, shopping, kids home from school and inclement weather to top everything off, how can we even think of feeding our family? We have lots of easy solutions that take only minutes to prepare.

Artisanal Love

One of the most fun places to explore in a specialty grocery store is the cheese department. The variety of flavors, textures, smells and artisanal love that go into each type of cheese can be overwhelming and confusing. This combination of love and craftsmanship goes way beyond bacteria and enzymes.

Thanksgiving ... Chanukah ... Thanksgivukkah!

For those of the Jewish faith, Thanksgiving 2013 will be brimming over with tradition, giving us even more reasons to be thankful. For the first time in 125 years, the Big Feast and the Festival of Lights coincide.

This rare occurrence will never happen again in our lifetimes. Where Chanukah traditionally shares the stage with Christmas trees, mistletoe and ho, ho, ho, this year Mr. Turkey will have to yield room for brisket, latkes and a round of dreidel.

Which Came First?

For many of us, autumn is the most favorite time of year. The air is crisp, pumpkins abound, and cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg warm the air. What is there not to love about pumpkin: pumpkin pie, pumpkin butter, pumpkin coffee, and of course, Eddie’s amazing Pumpkin Bars.

Don't Panic, It's Just Thanksgiving

If you're hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, take a deep breath. It’s not as bad as it might seem. You don’t have to treat it as “Babette’s Feast” meets “Mission Impossible.” With a few easy guidelines you can cook, entertain and yes, enjoy the holiday, too!
